For children 3 to less than 10 years of age, the nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) backbone should be one of the following, in preferential order:
- abacavir (ABC) + 3TC
- zidovudine (AZT) or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) + lamivudine (3TC) or emtricitabine (FTC)
