Antenatal corticosteroid therapy is recommended in women with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy who are at risk of imminent preterm birth

Notes and Remarks

An appropriate standard of care for the management of women with hypertensive disorders in pregnancy should be provided to the mother in addition to corticosteroid therapy in a hospital setting. n The GDG placed its emphasis on the benefits to the preterm infants in terms of reducing early morbidity and mortality outcomes, the low cost and wide availability of corticosteroid globally, the feasibility of implementing the intervention, and the potential impact on health-care resource use across settings, and therefore made a strong recommendation.
