All adults presenting with new-onset molluscum contagiosum in high HIV-prevalence settings with unknown HIV status should be offered an HIV test and, if positive, assessed for ART eligibility.
Notes and Remarks
- 1)Symptoms after ART initiation: redness and swelling can occur, and IRIS is possible when ART is initiated. ART should be continued; there is no evidence for any other specific treatment.
- 2)Relevant drug interactions are described in annex 2.
- 3)There is no specific recommendation or precaution for reducing the risk of transmission.
- 4)For HIV-negative children and adults, symptomatic treatment may be provided.
