First-line ART for adults should consist of two nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs) plus a non-nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) or an integrase inhibitor (INSTI): tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) +lamivudine (3TC) or emtricitabine (FTC) + efavirenz (EFV) as a fixed-dose combination is recommended as the preferred option to initiate ART
