Women living with asymptomatic or mild HIV clinical disease (WHO stage 1 or 2) can use the following hormonal contraceptive methods without restriction: combined oral contraceptive pills (COCs), combined injectable contraceptives (CICs), contraceptive patches and rings, progestogen-only pills (POPs), progestogen-only injectables (POIs; depot medroxyprogesterone acetate [DMPA] and norethisterone enanthate [NET-EN]), and levonorgestrel (LNG) and etonogestrel (ETG) implants (MEC Category 1). Women living with asymptomatic or mild HIV clinical disease (WHO stage 1 or 2) can generally use the LNG-intrauterine device (MEC Category 2) (Part I, section 12b).
