- This recommendation applies to children and adults, including pregnant women. • Ultrasound guided central venous catheter placement requires trained health workers, essential equipment and supplies. • Ensure appropriate IPC measures are in place to reduce risk of infection when using ultrasound. • Systematically monitor the catheter site. • Remove the catheter when no longer needed.
