zidovudine (AZT) + lamivudine (3TC) is recommended as the preferred backbone regimen for HIV post-exposure prophylaxis for children. Abacavir (ABC) + 3TC or tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) + 3TC or emtricitabine (FTC) can be considered as alternative regimens
