Relapse (for people with chronic hepatitis B infection) is common after stopping therapy with nucleos(t)ide analogues. Retreatment is recommended if there are consistent signs of reactivation: HBsAg or HBeAg becomes positive, ALT levels increase or HBV DNA becomes detectable again (if HBV DNA testing is available)
