In women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, consider weekly chemoprophylaxis with chloroquine until delivery and breastfeeding are completed, then, on the basis of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) status, treat with primaquine to prevent future relapse.
